About Us
Hello! We’re the Greens — one British family, two kids, countless lists, and one slightly traumatised cat who all moved from leafy West London to the golden dust of Riyadh.
Back in 2022, we boxed up our lives, said goodbye to M&S meal deals, and leapt headfirst into a new chapter in Saudi Arabia. We didn’t know anyone. We didn’t know the rules. And we definitely didn’t know that getting a SIM card could become a full-time job.
What began as a career move quickly became something more — a family adventure full of curious contradictions, unexpected friendships, and plenty of falafel.
Why This Blog Exists
The Go Go Greens is our ongoing love letter to expat life — equal parts practical guide and personal diary.
It’s where we share the things we wish we’d known, the wins we didn’t expect, and the wobbles we now laugh about. Think less ‘glossy influencer’, more ‘chat over coffee with someone who gets it.’
We write to help fellow wanderers — the movers, the makers, the mums googling “Can I get Cheddar in Riyadh?” at 2am — feel a little less alone.

Who’s Behind It?
I’m Sarah — a writer, marketing strategist, community-builder, and enthusiastic collector of local anecdotes. My husband (let’s call him The Quiet Adventurer) juggles spreadsheets by day and gravel bikes by weekend — always hunting for the next trail, hike, or route that ends with good food. He keeps us on track behind the scenes, while our two kids bring the energy and the occasional reality check.
And then there are the cats — two desert-born legends who turned up, made themselves at home, and never left. Because let’s be honest: adopting at least one animal is basically a rite of passage for expats in Saudi.
